There are a lot of misconceptions about what a lobbying service does. There is an idea that lobbyists carry around bags of cash with them and are slipping money under the table to politicians to get their bills through. However, there is little indication that there is a lot of money being exchanged in this process. As a matter of fact, there is often no exchange of even niceties being exchanged. In many cases, the lobbyist’s job is to educate and inform and the meetings are held inside an office and not at the country club on the golf course.
These professionals are actually a resource for many elected officials that do not have the time to do research on their own. The industry is now highly regulated since 2006.
